The Ulta Wellness Biomarkers - Men's Health Panel 5 panel contains 31 tests with 134 biomarkers .
Brief Description: The Ulta Wellness Biomarkers - Men's Health Panel 5 offers an advanced, comprehensive health assessment tailored for men. This panel includes a wide array of tests that evaluate cardiovascular health, metabolic function, hormone levels, nutritional status, and overall wellbeing. It is designed to provide a deep dive into various health metrics, making it ideal for those seeking an extensive overview of their health status.
Collection Method: Blood Draw and Urine Collection
Specimen Type: Whole Blood, Serum, and Urine
Test Preparation: Patient should be fasting 12 hours prior to collection
Collection must be done before 9 a.m.
TSH: Specimen collection after fluorescein dye angiography should be delayed for at least 3 days. For patients on hemodialysis, specimen collection should be delayed for 2 weeks.
According to the assay manufacturer Siemens: "Samples containing fluorescein can produce falsely depressed values when tested with the Advia Centaur TSH3 Ultra assay."
When and Why the Panel May Be Ordered
This panel is typically ordered by men seeking a detailed evaluation of their health, particularly those with concerns about heart disease, diabetes, hormonal imbalances, nutritional deficiencies, or chronic inflammation. It is also beneficial for individuals with a family history of these conditions or for those experiencing symptoms like fatigue, weight changes, mood swings, or other signs indicative of underlying health issues.
What the Panel Checks For
The Men's Health Panel 5 includes the following tests:
- Apolipoprotein A1 and Apolipoprotein B: Key markers for cardiovascular risk, providing insight into the balance between "good" and "bad" cholesterol.
- C-Reactive Protein: An indicator of inflammation, which can signal an increased risk for heart disease and other chronic conditions.
- Complete Blood Count with Differential and Platelets: Offers a comprehensive overview of blood health, identifying conditions like anemia, infection, and more.
- Comprehensive Metabolic Panel: Assesses metabolic function and liver and kidney health.
- Cortisol AM: Measures morning cortisol levels, providing insights into stress response and adrenal function.
- DHEA Sulfate, Estradiol, and Testosterone Free and Total: Evaluate key hormone levels affecting energy, mood, libido, and overall health.
- Ferritin, Folate, and Vitamin B12: Assess nutritional status and help diagnose anemia and other nutrient-related issues.
- Fibrinogen Activity Clauss: A coagulation test that can indicate cardiovascular risk.
- Gamma Glutamyl Transferase and Lactate Dehydrogenase: Enzymes that can indicate liver health and tissue damage.
- Hemoglobin A1c: Reflects average blood glucose levels over the past 2-3 months, crucial for diabetes management.
- Homocysteine: Elevated levels can be a risk factor for heart disease and stroke.
- Insulin Like Growth Factor-1 and Insulin: Indicators of growth hormone activity and insulin resistance, respectively.
- Iron Total and Total Iron Binding Capacity: Assess iron status, crucial for diagnosing conditions like anemia.
- Lipid Panel with Ratios and Lipoprotein Fractionation Ion Mobility: Provide a detailed assessment of cholesterol levels and particle size, key in evaluating cardiovascular risk.
- PSA Total: Screens for prostate health, important in detecting prostate issues early.
- QuestAssureD 25-Hydroxyvitamin D Total with D2 and D3: Measures vitamin D levels, essential for bone health and immune function.
- Reticulocyte Count and Sex Hormone Binding Globulin: Evaluate bone marrow function and the bioavailability of sex hormones.
- T3 Total, T3 Uptake, T4 Total, and T4 Free: Comprehensive thyroid assessment, key in diagnosing thyroid disorders.
- Thyroid Stimulating Hormone: The primary indicator of thyroid function.
- Uric Acid: High levels can indicate gout or other metabolic conditions.
- Urinalysis Complete: Offers insights into kidney health and can detect a range of conditions from infections to diabetes.
Expand Your Health Insights with More Advanced Panels
The Men's Health Panel 5 provides a thorough analysis of men's health, but further exploration with more advanced panels can offer even deeper insights:
-
Men's Health Panel 6 adds Magnesium Serum for a comprehensive mineral analysis, Myeloperoxidase Antibody for inflammation and cardiovascular risk assessment, Omega-3 and -6 Fatty Acids for dietary and cardiovascular health evaluation, and Transferrin for iron metabolism, broadening the scope of health assessment and providing a more detailed view of cardiovascular health and nutritional status.
-
Progressing to Men's Health Panel 7 introduces Direct LDL for an accurate measure of "bad" cholesterol and proBNP N-Terminal for advanced heart health assessment, offering a more comprehensive cardiovascular risk profile and heart health insights.
-
Men's Health Panel 8 includes Cystatin C for nuanced kidney function assessment and Vitamin K for bone health evaluation, further expanding the health assessment to include kidney function and bone health.
-
The most comprehensive, Men's Health Panel 9, incorporates ApoE Genotype for genetic risk assessment related to cardiovascular diseases and Fecal Globin by Immunochemistry for colorectal cancer screening, providing the most extensive overview of men's health.
Conditions and Diseases the Panel Can Detect
The Men's Health Panel 5 can detect a variety of conditions and diseases:
- Cardiovascular Diseases: Through its comprehensive lipid profile, apolipoproteins, and inflammatory markers, this panel can identify individuals at increased risk for heart disease and stroke.
- Hormonal Imbalances and Endocrine Disorders: The inclusion of various hormone tests can help diagnose conditions such as hypogonadism, thyroid disorders, and adrenal imbalances.
- Nutritional Deficiencies: Tests for Ferritin, Folate, and Vitamin B12 can identify deficiencies that may lead to anemia and other health issues.
- Diabetes and Prediabetes: Hemoglobin A1c levels provide a picture of blood sugar control over time, aiding in the diagnosis and management of diabetes.
- Inflammatory and Autoimmune Conditions: Elevated levels of C-Reactive Protein and Homocysteine can indicate chronic inflammation and increased risk for autoimmune diseases.
How a Provider Uses the Results of the Panel
Healthcare providers use the results from the Men's Health Panel 5 in various ways:
- For cardiovascular diseases, detailed lipid profiles and inflammatory markers can guide recommendations for lifestyle modifications, medications, or further diagnostic testing.
- In managing hormonal imbalances, abnormal hormone levels may lead to further evaluation and treatment with hormone replacement therapy or other interventions.
- For nutritional deficiencies, identified deficiencies might necessitate dietary changes and supplementation.
- In diabetes management, elevated Hemoglobin A1c levels might necessitate adjustments in medication, diet, or exercise plans.
- For inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, elevated markers of inflammation could prompt further diagnostic testing and targeted treatment strategies.
The Ulta Wellness Biomarkers - Men's Health Panel 5 offers an extensive evaluation of men's health, providing vital insights into cardiovascular risk, hormonal balance, nutritional status, and more. This panel enables early detection of potential health issues, facilitates the monitoring of existing conditions, and helps in crafting personalized health strategies.
