Also known as: CBC, CBC includes Differential and Platelets, CBC/PLT w/DIFF, Complete Blood Count (includes Differential and Platelets)
NOTE: Ulta Lab Tests provides CBC test results from Quest Diagnostics as they are reported. Often, different biomarker results are made available at different time intervals. When reporting the results, Ulta Lab Tests denotes those biomarkers not yet reported as 'pending' for every biomarker the test might report. Only biomarkers Quest Diagnostics observes are incorporated and represented in the final CBC test results provided by Ulta Lab Tests.

The TH-4. Hashimoto's Disease panel contains 17 tests with 83 biomarkers .
Brief Description: The TH-4 Hashimoto's Disease panel is an advanced diagnostic tool tailored for an extensive evaluation of Hashimoto's thyroiditis, the most common cause of hypothyroidism. This panel incorporates a wide range of tests to assess not only thyroid function and autoimmune markers but also the systemic effects of the disease on metabolic health and nutritional status, offering a comprehensive view of the patient's overall health in the context of Hashimoto's Disease.
Collection Method: Blood Draw
Specimen Type: Whole Blood, Serum, and Plasma
Test Preparation: Patient should be fasting 9-12 hours prior to collection.
Patient must be restricted from alcohol and vitamins for at least 24 hours before a sample collection.
Collection should be done in the morning.
Specifc to TSH: Specimen collection after fluorescein dye angiography should be delayed for at least 3 days. For patients on hemodialysis, specimen collection should be delayed for 2 weeks.
According to the assay manufacturer Siemens: "Samples containing fluorescein can produce falsely depressed values when tested with the Advia Centaur TSH3 Ultra assay."
When and Why the TH-4 Hashimoto's Disease Panel May Be Ordered
Healthcare providers may order the TH-4 Hashimoto's Disease panel for individuals exhibiting symptoms consistent with hypothyroidism, such as fatigue, weight gain, cold intolerance, and dry skin, particularly when Hashimoto's thyroiditis is suspected. It is also utilized in complex cases to monitor disease progression, evaluate the effectiveness of thyroid hormone replacement therapy, and investigate the presence of overlapping or coexisting thyroid conditions.
What the TH-4 Hashimoto's Disease Panel Checks For
- Complete Blood Count with Differential and Platelets: Assesses the health of blood cells, crucial for identifying anemia or leukopenia that can be associated with autoimmune diseases.
- Comprehensive Metabolic Panel: Evaluates kidney and liver function, electrolyte balance, and glucose levels, providing insights into the broader metabolic effects of hypothyroidism.
- Hemoglobin A1c: Measures average blood glucose levels, essential for detecting or managing diabetes, which can be more prevalent in individuals with thyroid dysfunction.
- Iron and Total Iron Binding Capacity: Investigates iron status, important for diagnosing anemia commonly found in thyroid diseases.
- Lipid Panel with Ratios: Assesses cholesterol levels, crucial for evaluating cardiovascular risk, which can be elevated in hypothyroidism.
- QuestAssureD Vitamin D Total with D2 and D3: Measures vitamin D levels, vital for bone health and immune function, often impacted by autoimmune thyroid disease.
- T3 Reverse, T3 Total, T3 Free, T4 Total, T4 Free: Provide a detailed assessment of thyroid hormone levels and metabolism, essential for diagnosing and managing hypothyroidism.
- Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TPOAb) and Thyroglobulin Antibodies (TgAb): Key markers for autoimmune thyroid diseases, particularly Hashimoto's thyroiditis, where these antibodies are typically elevated.
- TSH Receptor Binding Antibody (TRAb): Helps in distinguishing between different thyroid disorders, including the rare instances of hypothyroidism with overlapping features of hyperthyroidism.
- Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH): A primary regulator of thyroid function, with elevated levels indicative of hypothyroidism.
- Thyroid Stimulating Immunoglobulin (TSI): Assesses the presence of antibodies typically associated with Graves' disease, useful in complex cases with overlapping thyroid conditions.
- Vitamin B12 and Vitamin B6: Assess levels of these vitamins, important for neurological function and energy metabolism, which can be impacted by thyroid disease.
Conditions or Diseases the TH-4 Hashimoto's Disease Panel Can Check For
The TH-4 Hashimoto's Disease panel is specifically designed to diagnose and manage Hashimoto's thyroiditis and hypothyroidism. Additionally, it aids in identifying overlapping or coexisting thyroid conditions such as Graves' disease (in rare cases of Hashitoxicosis) and assessing the risk of complications and related conditions including anemia, dyslipidemia, vitamin deficiencies, and metabolic syndrome.
Use of TH-4 Hashimoto's Disease Panel Results by Healthcare Professionals
Healthcare professionals utilize the results of the TH-4 Hashimoto's Disease panel to diagnose Hashimoto's thyroiditis, evaluate the extent of thyroid dysfunction, distinguish between various thyroid disorders, and monitor the effectiveness of treatment. The comprehensive nature of the panel also allows for the management of associated conditions, ensuring a holistic approach to patient care.
The TH-4 Hashimoto's Disease panel offers a thorough assessment of Hashimoto's thyroiditis, providing critical insights into thyroid function, autoimmune status, and the broader health impacts of thyroid dysfunction. By combining thyroid function tests with assessments for autoimmune markers, metabolic health, and nutritional status, this panel enables healthcare providers to develop targeted treatment strategies, addressing the complexities of Hashimoto's disease and enhancing patient outcomes.
