Clinical Significance
Benzodiazepines, Serum - Benzodiazepines are widely used as anxiolytics, sedative-hypnotics, muscle relaxants, and anticonvulsants. Benzodiazepines include drugs such as diazepam Valium®, chlordiazepoxide Librium®, oxazepam Serax®, lorazepam Ativan®, alprazolam Xanax®, clonazepam Clonopin® and triazolam Halcion®. Many common benzodiazepines are detected in urine by their metabolites oxazepam and nordiazepam. Psychological and physiological addictions, misuse, and abuse of benzodiazepines have been described.
