The following is a list of what is included in the item above. Click the test(s) below to view what biomarkers are measured along with an explanation of what the biomarker is measuring.
Also known as: CBC, CBC includes Differential and Platelets, CBC/PLT w/DIFF, Complete Blood Count (includes Differential and Platelets)
NOTE: Ulta Lab Tests provides CBC test results from Quest Diagnostics as they are reported. Often, different biomarker results are made available at different time intervals. When reporting the results, Ulta Lab Tests denotes those biomarkers not yet reported as 'pending' for every biomarker the test might report. Only biomarkers Quest Diagnostics observes are incorporated and represented in the final CBC test results provided by Ulta Lab Tests.

The Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) Plus Panel panel contains 5 tests with 61 biomarkers .
Brief Description: The Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) Plus Panel is an expanded version of the basic TRT panel, offering a comprehensive overview of factors influencing and affected by testosterone levels. This panel is tailored for individuals undergoing testosterone replacement therapy, providing crucial insights into overall health, hormone balance, and the potential impact of TRT on various bodily functions.
Collection Method: Blood Draw
Specimen: 4 mL Whole Blood , 5 mL Serum
, and 2 mL Frozen Serum
Test Preparation: Fasting is preferred, but not required. Fasting is no food or drinks other than water for at least 8 hours before collection.
Dietary supplements containing biotin may interfere in assays and may skew analyte results to be either falsely high or falsely low. For patients receiving the recommended daily doses of biotin, draw samples at least 8 hours after the last biotin supplementation. For patients on mega-doses of biotin supplements, draw samples at least 72 hours after the last biotin supplementation.
Medication Interactions: Use of STRENSIQ may interfere with this lab test, leading to falsely elevated results. Talk to your healthcare provider about using an alternative test if you are receiving STRENSIQ
This panel is intended for male patients are 18 years old or older. If this panel is ordered for a pediatric (under 18) patient, the lab will automatically change the Estradiol test code to and charge for Estradiol, Ultrasensitive LC/MS/MS #30289. For male patients with low estradiol levels, the lab may change the Estradiol test to and charge for Estradiol, Ultrasensitive LC/MS/MS #30289. If this panel is ordered for a pediatric (under 18) or female patient, the lab may not perform the PSA, Free and Total #31348 test. |
Reason for Ordering the TRT Plus Panel
This enhanced panel is recommended for individuals on TRT who require a broader assessment of their health status. It's particularly useful for monitoring therapy effectiveness, adjusting dosages, and preemptively addressing any side effects or complications associated with TRT.
What the TRT Plus Panel Checks For
Each test within this panel plays a pivotal role in understanding the intricate balance affected by TRT:
- Complete Blood Count with Differential and Platelets: Evaluates overall blood health, crucial for detecting conditions like polycythemia, a potential side effect of TRT.
- Comprehensive Metabolic Panel: Provides insights into liver and kidney function, electrolyte balance, and glucose levels, ensuring TRT isn't adversely affecting these areas.
- Estradiol: High levels can indicate aromatization of testosterone into estrogen, which might necessitate adjustments in TRT regimen.
- PSA Free and Total: Critical for prostate health monitoring, as TRT can influence PSA levels.
- Testosterone Free and Total: Determines the efficacy of TRT by measuring both the total and bioavailable testosterone in the body.
- Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG): Influences the amount of available testosterone, impacting the effectiveness of TRT.
Detectable Conditions and Diseases
The TRT Plus Panel is instrumental in identifying and managing several conditions related to or affected by hormone levels:
- Hypogonadism: Low testosterone levels indicating the need for or adjustment of TRT.
- Erythrocytosis: Elevated red blood cell count often seen with testosterone therapy, which can increase thrombosis risk.
- Liver and Kidney Function Impairment: TRT can affect organ function, necessitating careful monitoring.
- Hormonal Imbalances: Imbalances in estradiol or SHBG can affect TRT's effectiveness and overall well-being.
Clinical Use of Panel Results
Healthcare providers utilize the TRT Plus Panel results to tailor and manage testosterone therapy, ensuring optimal benefits while mitigating risks. By understanding the comprehensive health profile provided by this panel, clinicians can adjust TRT dosages, address side effects, and maintain a balanced approach to hormone replacement therapy.
The Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) Plus Panel offers a thorough health assessment for those undergoing TRT, providing essential data for informed treatment decisions. Its comprehensive scope ensures that therapy is not only effective but also aligned with the broader health goals, safeguarding against potential risks and enhancing the quality of life.
We advise having your results reviewed by a licensed medical healthcare professional for proper interpretation of your results.
